BLAZONING OF THE KELLER COAT OF ARMS
BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Keller):
ARMS (Shield):
Or three eagles heads erased sable
CREST (Helmet):
On a torse of the colors an eagles head as in the arms
MANTLE (Decken):
Not deScribed (Mantling is seldom deScribed and usually takes the Tinctures of the Shield)
MOTTO:
None recorded (Common for the German Achievement)
REFERENCE SOURCE:
Armorial General by J.B. Rietstap
ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Or - (Means the Shield is Golden (Or=Gold (depicted as yellow)))
three Eagles Heads Erased Sable - (Means that 3 Black (Sable) Eagles Heads, that
have been torn or ripped off (Erased), are placed upon the Shield in the usual arrangement - as it wasn't
specifically deScribed. That is: 2 Heads to Chief (Top 1/3rd of Shield), 1 to Base (Bottom 1/3rd of Shield), usually
deScribed as "2 & 1".)
Note: While it's OK in the Crest, The Eagle's beaks within the Shield should, properly, be colored Black - only
the tongue of the Eagles Head may be separately tinctured
CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a
cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
An Eagles Head as in the Arms - (Means an Eagles Head, like the ones in the Shield is affixed by the
Torse (together with the Mantling) to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with its Visor Closed, or with no Visor nor Grilles -
the kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))
SYMBOLISM:
Eagle (Head) - (Person of noble nature, strength, bravery, and alertness; or one who is high-spirited,
ingenious, quick-witted, and judicious)
Colors:
Or (Gold) - (Generosity)
Sable (Black) - (Constancy, sometimes grief)
Above Blazon (written description) only applies to large Emblazon (drawing).
