BLAZONING OF THE SCHLOSSER COAT OF ARMS
BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Schlosser):
ARMS (Shield):
Per fess, or on sable, an angel counterchanged holding in either hand a key
CREST (Helmet):
On a torse of the colors a demi angel from the arms
MANTLE (Decken):
Not deScribed (Mantling is seldom deScribed unless other than the Primary Tinctures
are to be used)
MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)
REFERENCE SOURCE:
ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Per Fess - (Means "By the Fess" (Fess or Fesse is the horizontal third
portion of the Shield taken at the center) - the Shield is divided in half horizontally)
or on sable - (Means the top half of the Shield is Golden (Or=Gold),
& the bottom half is Black (Sable=Black))
An Angel Counterchanged - (Means the top half of the Angel has the colors of
the bottom half of the Shield and vice-versa)
Holding in either Hand a Key - (Means the Angel is holding a Key in both of its
hands - the color for the Key wasn't specifically deScribed, as it's understood that it
must be Black (Sable) to contrast (black on black wouldn't show well))
CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a
cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
A Demi Angel from the Arms - (Means the top half of an Angel (may be either
black or gold (from the Arms (Shield)), as it wasn't specifically deScribed) is affixed by the Torse (together with
the Mantling) to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with its Visor closed, or with no Visor nor Grilles - the
kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))
SYMBOLISM:
Angel - (Dignity, glory, and honor)
Key - (Guardianship and dominion)
Colors:
Or (Gold) - (Generosity)
Sable (Black) - (Constancy, sometimes grief)
