CREST (Helmet):

MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)

REFERENCE SOURCE:
Wappenbuch Von 1605 by Johann Siebmacher, page 216

ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Per fess - (Means the Shield is divided in half horizontally)
1st: - (Means the 1st (Top) half of the Shield is going to be deScribed (by the Scribe) next)
or a lion passant sable - (Means the 1st (Top) half of the Shield is Golden (Or=Gold) and has a Male Lion standing with one leg raised (Passant) and is colored Black (Sable=Black))
holding in the paws an anchor paleways inverted of the latter - (Means the Lion is holding, in his paws, an Anchor which is to be displayed vertically (Paleways) & "upside-down" (Inverted) & is colored Black (of the latter - means of the last color mentioned, which is Black (Sable=Black))
2nd: - (Means the 2nd (Bottom) half of the Shield is going to be deScribed (by the Scribe) next)
sable two chevrons argent - (Means the 2nd (Bottom) half of the Shield is Black (Sable=Black) and has 2 Chevrons (upside-down "V's") which are colored Silver (Argent=Silver) placed upon it)

CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
between a vol - (Means something (to be DeScribed next) will go between a pair of uplifted Wings conjoined at the base (a Vol))
per fesse - (Means the Wings of the Vol are divided in half horizontally)
or and argent - (Means the top half of the Wings are Golden (Or=Gold) & the bottom half is Silver (Argent= Silver) Note that using the 2 metals adjacent to each other breaks the primary "Tincture Rule" of Heraldry but this was common, especially for the Crest)
a lion rampant sable issuing - (Means, in profile & standing on one hind leg, a Black (Sable=Black) Male, Rampaging (Rampant) Lion that appears as if to "come out from behind" the Helmet (Issuing) is what goes between the wings of the Vol)
holding an anchor inverted of the last - (Means the Lion is holding an "Upside-Down" (Inverted) Anchor which is colored Black (of the last (last color mentioned=Sable=Black) this entire Crest is then affixed, by the Torse, together with the Mantling, to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with the Visor closed or with No Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))

SYMBOLISM:
Anchor - (Succor in extremity and the Christian symbol of hope)
Chevron - (Protection; Builders or others who have accomplished some work of faithful service)
Lion - (Courage)
Vol (Wings) - (Swiftness, protection, celebrity, or coverture)
Colors:
Argent (Silver) - (Peace and sincerity)
