Blazoning of the Völker Coat of Arms
BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Völker):
ARMS (Shield):
Gules, on a pile issuing from the dexter argent, a rose of the first
CREST (Helmet):
On a torse of the colors a vol, the dexter charged with the arms of the shield, the sinister charged
with the arms of the shield inverted
MANTLE (Decken):
Not deScribed (Mantling is seldom deScribed unless other than the Primary Tinctures
are to be used)
MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)
REFERENCE SOURCE:
ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Gules - (Means the Shield is Red (Gules = Red))
on a Pile - (Means "something" (to be deScribed later) will be placed upon a
Pile - which is basically a Triangle)
issuing from the Dexter - (Means the Triangle will "come out from" (issue) from
the viewers left (Dexter) side of the Shield. The Triangles base will be to the (viewers) left & it
will "point" to the (viewers) right)
Argent - (Means the Triangle is Silver (Argent))
a Rose of the first - (Means we now find out what is to be placed upon the
Triangle & it's a Rose (an Heraldic Rose) colored Red (of the 1st means of the 1st Color deScribed))
CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a
cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
A Vol - (Means a pair of uplifted wings conjoined at the base)
the Dexter charged with the Arms of the Shield - (Means the wing of the Vol to
the viewers left (Dexter) has the Rose on the Triangle just like the Shield)
the Sinister charged with the Arms of the Shield inverted - (Means the
other wing (Sinister) is similarly charged, but the Triangle is inverted) NOTE: the color for the Vol
was not deScribed so it MUST be Red (the primary color tincture) as it has a Silver (the primary metal
tincture) Triangle placed upon it. Only Red & Silver were deScribed & Colors can't be put upon
Colors, nor Metals upon Metals, so we could not have a Silver Triangle on a Silver Wing (no contrast).
This Crest is then affixed by the Torse (together with the Maantling) to the Helmet, which is drawn in profile with
the Visor closed, or with no Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by a Bürgerlich (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))
SYMBOLISM:
Pile - (Military strength and fortitude)
Rose (Red) - (Grace and beauty)
Vol (Wings) - (Swiftness, protection, celebrity, or coverture)
Colors:
Argent (Silver) - (Peace and sincerity)
Gules (Red) - (Military fortitude and magnanimity)
