BLAZONING OF THE STOCKLI COAT OF ARMS

BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Stockli):
ARMS (Shield):

Gules, an arrow bendways argent surmounted by a double cross of the latter
CREST (Helmet):
Upon the wings of a vol argent, the arrow of the arms
MANTLE (Decken):
Not deScribed (Mantling is seldom deScribed unless other than the Primary Tinctures are to be used)

MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)

REFERENCE SOURCE:
Armorial General by J.B. Rietstap

ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Gules - (Means the Shield is Red (Gules=Red))
an arrow bendways argent - (Means the Shield has a Silver (Argent=Silver) Arrow upon it & the arrow is diagonally oriented (bendways) bottom to top, right to left)
surmounted by a double cross of the latter - (Means a Cross, of the "Double" type or style is overlaid (Surmounted) on top of the Arrow & it takes the color of the last color mentioned, which is Silver (of the latter))

CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
Upon the wings of a vol argent - (Means "something", to be deScribed later (an arrow), will go upon each of the uplifted Wings of the Vol & the Vol will be colored Silver (Argent=Silver))
the arrow of the arms - (Means the same Arrow as in the Shield (Arms) - is what will go upon each of the Wings of the Vol, and it will be colored Red (Gules) - the color need not be specified, as the Vol color was deScribed as Silver & there are only the 2 colors & "Metal (Silver) must not be borne upon Metal" - no contrast. Then it's all affixed by the Torse (together with the Mantling) to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with the Visor closed or with no Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))

SYMBOLISM:
Arrow - (Martial readiness)
Cross - (Symbolic of some Christian experience or sentiment)
Vol (Wings) - (Swiftness, protection, celebrity, or coverture)
Colors:
Argent (Silver) - (Peace and sincerity)
Gules (Red) - (Military fortitude and magnanimity)
