BLAZONING OF THE SCHRADER COAT OF ARMS

BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Schrader):
ARMS (Shield):

Argent, a lions head collared gules and crowned or
CREST (Helmet):
Out of a coronet, between a vol sable the lions head
MANTLE (Decken):
Not deScribed (Mantling is seldom deScribed unless other than the Primary Tinctures are to be used)

MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)

REFERENCE SOURCE:
Armorial General by J.B. Rietstap

ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Argent - (Means the Shield is Silver (Argent=Silver))
a Lions Head, Collared Gules, and Crowned Or - (Means a Lions Head, that is Red & has a Collar that is also Red (Gules=Red) and is wearing a Coronet (Crown) that is Golden (Or=Gold))

CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
Out of a coronet - (Means the next thing deScribed will "come out" from a Coronet (Coronet type unspecified may mean simply a "Crest Coronet", which is a "Crown-like" device that has no significance except either for Helmet decoration or to signify Government Service - it's always drawn with only 3 of its 4 Strawberry leaves shown & without jewels))
Between a Vol Sable - (Means "something" (a Lions Head), to be deScribed later, will go between a pair of uplifted Wings conjoined at the base (Vol) & colored Black (Sable=Black))
the lions head - (Means the Lions Head is the "something" that goes between the Vol Wings - it is implied that the same type & color of Lions Head as is in the Shield will be used to go between the Wings of the Vol, and then this Crest is all affixed (by the Coronet & Mantling) to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with the Visor closed or with no Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))

SYMBOLISM:
Crown (Coronet) - (Authority) Note: Because it isn't specifically deScribed in writing, it's unknown whether the Crest Coronet is just an heraldic adornment (a common practice) or signifies Government Service (also a common practice).
Lion - (Courage)
Vol (Wings) - (Swiftness, protection, celebrity, or coverture)
Colors:
Argent (Silver) - (Peace and sincerity)
Gules (Red) - (Military fortitude and magnanimity)
Or (Gold) - (Generosity)
Sable (Black) - (Constancy, sometimes grief)
