BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Pfaender):
ARMS (Shield):

Arms1: Per chevron inverted gules and argent, a unicorn of the latter, two chevrons inverted sable
Arms2: Per chevron inverted gules and argent, a unicorn sable, two chevrons inverted of the latter
CREST (Helmet):
On a torse of the colors between a vol per fesse gules and argent, a unicorn issuing sable
MANTLE (Decken):
Or and argent (Mantling is seldom deScribed unless other than the Primary Tinctures are to be used (as in this case))

MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)

ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Per chevron inverted - (Means the Shield is divided in half Horizontally by an "upside down" (Inverted) Chevron shape)
gules and argent - (Means the top half will be Red (Gules=Red) and the bottom half will be Silver (Argent=Silver))
a unicorn of the latter - (Means a Mythical beast called a Unicorn is placed (Charged) upon the top half and is to be colored Silver (of the Latter (Last Color Mentioned))
two chevrons inverted sable - (Means 2 "Upside Down" (Inverted) Chevrons are placed (Charged) upon the bottom half of the Shield and are to be colored Black (Sable=Black))

CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
between a Vol - (Means "Something" (a Unicorn) is to go between a pair of uplifted Wings conjoined at the base)
per fesse - (Means the Wings are divided in half horizontally)
gules and argent - (Means the top half of the Wing is Red (Gules=Red) and the bottom half is Silver (Argent=Silver) - this Vol is then affixed, by the Torse, together with the Mantling, to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with the Visor closed or with No Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))

Unicorn - (Extreme Courage)
