BLAZONING OF THE NEIDLINGER COAT OF ARMS

BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Neidlinger):
ARMS (Shield):

Per bend sinister, azure and or, upon a trimount argent, a griffin per bend sinister of the second and gules, holding in the dexter talon a sword bendwise contourne of the third
CREST (Helmet):
On a torse of the colors a vol per fesse the dexter azure and argent, the sinister or and gules
MANTLE (Decken):
The dexter azure and argent, the sinister or and gules (Mantling is seldom deScribed (such as this) and usually takes the Primary Tinctures - we're guessing that they just wanted to be sure that the Mantling followed the Crest)

MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)

REFERENCE SOURCE:

ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Per bend sinister - (Means the Shield is divided in half diagonally (per Bend) but opposite of normal (Sinister))
azure and or - (Means the (viewers) leftmost half is going to be Blue (Azure=Blue) and the other half is to be Golden (Or=Gold))
upon a trimount argent - (Means the next thing to be deScribed will go upon a Silver (Argent=Silver) Trimount (a "triple hilled" representation of "rolling hills"))
Note: to those who've noticed that the Silver Trimount upon the Golden Shield portion, breaks one of the cardinal rules of Heraldry, please do not be alarmed, as this is very common in the Trimount of the German achievement.

a griffin per bend sinister of the second and gules - (Means a Mythical Beast - the bottom half of a Lion and the top half of an Eagle - a Griffin is added to the Shield & it is also divided in half like the Shield itself (Per Bend Sinister) with the first (Leftmost-Upper) half Golden (Or=Gold (of the 2nd (2nd color mentioned))) and the other half Red (Gules=Red))
holding in the dexter talon a sword bendwise contourne argent - (Means the Griffin is holding in its right "Hand", "Claw", "Talon" a Silver (Argent=Silver (of the 3rd (3rd color mentioned))) Sword that is raised in a diagonal (Bendwise) "attitude" or "orientation" with its tip pointed opposite of "normal" - to the viewers right, instead of to the viewers left (Contourne (Counter)))

CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
A Vol - (Means a pair of uplifted Wings conjoined at the base)
per fesse - (Means the Wings are divided in half horizontally)
the dexter azure and argent - (Means the Wing to the viewers left (Dexter) is Blue (Azure) on top & Silver (Argent) on bottom)
the sinister or and gules - (Means the top half of the Wing to the viewers right (Sinister) is Golden (Or=Gold) & the bottom half is Red (Gules=Red) - this Vol is then affixed, by the Torse, together with the Mantling, to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with the Visor closed or with No Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))

SYMBOLISM:
Griffin - (Sets forth the property of a valorous soldier whose magnanimity is such that he will dare all dangers, and even death itself, rather than become captive.)
Trimount - (Unknown - (Very common German device))
Vol (Wings) - (Swiftness, protection, celebrity, or coverture)
Colors:
Argent (Silver) - ( Peace and sincerity)
Azure (Blue) - (Loyalty and truth)
Gules (Red) - (Military fortitude and magnanimity)
Or (Gold) - (Generosity)
