BLAZONING OF THE KUHN COAT OF ARMS

BLAZON (Wappen der Familie Kuhn):
ARMS (Shield):

Per fess argent over azure, the first charged with a lion rampant reguardant, the second with a chevron of the first
CREST (Helmet):
On a torse of the colors, between a vol, a lion rampant reguardant
MANTLE (Decken):
Not deScribed (Mantling is seldom deScribed unless other than the Primary Tinctures are to be used)

MOTTO:
None recorded (It is rare for the German Achievement to deScribe a motto)

REFERENCE SOURCE:
Armorial General by J.B. Rietstap

ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Per fess - (Means the Shield is divided in half horizontally)
argent over azure - (Means the 1st (top) half of the Shield is Silver (Argent=Silver) and the bottom half is Blue (Azure=Blue))
a Lion Rampant - (Means a Rampaging (Rampant) Blue (no color deScribed, so the primary color tincture (Blue) should be used), Male (unless otherwise deScribed)) Lion in profile, standing on one hind leg is placed (Charged) upon the Silver (Argent=Silver - 1st color deScribed) half of the Shield)
Reguardant - (Means the Lion is looking back "over his shoulder")
the second - (Means the 2nd half of the Shield (Blue half))
with a a Chevron of the first - (Means a Silver colored (Argent=Silver - 1st color) Chevron is added (Charged) to the Blue half (2nd) of the Shield)

CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
On a Torse of the colors - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon a cloth wreath (Torse) of 6 twists, alternating between the primary tinctures)
A Lion Rampant - (Means a Rampaging (Rampant) Blue or Silver male Lion in profile, standing on one hind leg is affixed to the Helmet (No color was deScribed, so either the primary color tincture (Blue) or metal tincture (Silver) must be used (We chose Blue, as it's the preferred default because it's the color of the lion in the Shield)))
Reguardant - (Means the Lion is looking back "over his shoulder")
between a Vol - (Means the Lion is between a pair of uplifted Wings conjoined at the base (Vol). This is all affixed, by the Torse (together with the Mantling), to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with the Visor closed, or with no Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))

SYMBOLISM:
Chevron - (Protection; Builders or others who have accomplished some work of faithful service)
Lion - (Courage)
Vol (Wings) - (Swiftness, protection, celebrity, or coverture)
Colors:
Argent (Silver) - (Peace and sincerity)
Azure (Blue) - (Loyalty and truth)

Above Blazon (written description) only applies to large Emblazon (drawing).
