REFERENCE SOURCE:
ARMS (Shield) INTERPRETATION:
Gules over Azure - (Means the Shield is Red (Gules) on top & Blue (Azure)
on the bottom)
configured Trimount - (Means the Blue consists of 3 Mounds (Trimount) in base)
Upon the 1st - (Means the next thing deScribed will go upon the Red (Gules=Red - 1st color))
over Two Fire Hooks in Saltire - (Means something (a Gold Star) will be above a pair of
crossed (in Saltire) Firehooks (Feuerhaken und Widerhaken) - Since it wasn't specifically deScribed, the Firehooks
must be colored either Silver or Gold (they didn't care which) & it looks best as Silver)
a Mullet (6) Or - (Means a Golden (Or=Gold) Star of 6 points goes above the
Firehooks)
CREST (Helmet) INTERPRETATION:
Out of a Crest Coronet the Eaglehead Or Issuing - (Means a Golden (Or)
Eagles head "comes out" (issues) from a Crest Coronet (often called a "Ducal Coronet"), which is a "Crown-like" device
that has no significance except either for Helmet decoration or to signify Government Service - it's
always drawn with only 3 of its 4 Strawberry leaves shown & without jewels. This Crest is then affixed
to the Helmet, which is drawn in Profile with its Visor Closed, or with no Visor nor Grilles - the kind used by
a "Bürgerliche" (Esquire/Commoner/Citizen))
SYMBOLISM:
Crown (Coronet) - (Authority)
Note: Because it isn't specifically deScribed in writing, it's unknown whether the Crest Coronet is just an
heraldic adornment (a common practice) or signifies Government Service (also a common practice).
Eagle - (Person of noble nature, strength, bravery, and alertness; or one who is high-spirited,
ingenious, quick-witted, and judicious)
Fire - (Zeal)
Star (Mullet(5)) - (Divine quality from above - Old heraldic device)
Star (Mullet(6)) - (Divine quality from above - Old heraldic device, usually drawn like a "Star of David")
Trimount - (Symbolism unknown - very common German device)
Colors:
Argent (Silver) - (Peace and sincerity)
Azure (Blue) - (Loyalty and truth)
Gules (Red) - (Military fortitude and magnanimity)
Or (Gold) - (Generosity)
